Tajay Gayle and Danniel Thomas-Dodd were the only Jamaican winners, while Elaine Thompson Herah finished fourth at Saturday’s (10 April) Marimar Invitational, a Continental Tour Silver meet in Florida.
Gayle, the Doha 2019 world champion, topped the men’s long jump with an 8.27m leap (+1.5m/s).
Bahamian Holland Martin took second with 8.15m (+2.4m/s). Damacus Simpson of the USA finished third with 8.05m (+2.8m/s).
Thomas-Dodd, Doha 2019 World Championships medallist, won the women’s shot put with a throw of 19.17m.
Fellow Jamaican Lloydricia Cameron threw 18.11m to finish sixth. Portious Warren of Trinidad and Tobago ended eighth with 17.74m.
American Magdalyn Ewen finished second with 18.69 and Jessica Ramsey third with 18.61m.
Meanwhile, Thompson Herah ran 22.44 for fourth place in the women’s 200m. Briana Williams, the other Jamaica in the event, finished fifth in 22.93.
American Jenna Prandini won the event in 22.29. Brittany Brown of Great Britain, 22.39 and Candice Hill, also of the USA, 22.43 were next.
The wind reading was +2.3m/s.
Akeem Bloomfield did not finish the men’s 200m. The event went to Kenny Bednarek of the USA in 19.65 (+4.0m/s wind).
Jamaicans Ronald Levy, 13.39 and Andrew Riley, 13.42, were fourth and fifth in the men’s 110m hurdles. American Doha 2019 world champion Grant Holloway won the event in 13.04 (+2.2m/s wind).
Trinidad and Tobago’s Ruebin Walters finished third in 13.37 and Eddie Lovett of USVI eighth in 13.75.
Antigua and Barbuda’s CJ Green ran 10.00 for third in the men’s 100m final, which went to Kyree King of USA in 9.97 (+1.9m/s wind).
Natalliah Whyte, 11.16 and Natasha Morrison, 11.19, finished third and fourth in the women’s 100m final. American Sha’Carri Richardson stopped the clock in a world-leading 10.72 (+1.6m/s).
Kasheika Cameron, the third Jamaican, was 12th in 11.41.
Stephenie-Ann McPherson, 51.09 and Chrisann Gordon-Powell, 51.39, were the Jamaicans in the women’s 400m. American Shamier Little won in 49.91.
Natoya Goule, in the women’s 800m, ran 2:00.92 for second behind American Ajee Wilson, 2:00.57.
Andrea Foster of Guyana finished fifth in 2:04.34.
Jamaican Rajay Hamilton ran 1:48.32 to finish behind Americans Abe Alvardo, 1:47.29 and Kameron Jones, 1:47.33 in the men’s 800m.

Wendell Powerful , yes, lots of eyes pop open wide. She won with “Bolts distance”.
She’s definitely one to watch.
Reuben Robinson yes, she ran 10:75 as a freshman at LSU for the collegiate record a couple years ago. She haven’t done much since, I guess she’s back.
Wendell Powerful , that’s a fast time so early in the season and clearly she’s talented. She blew the field away yesterday, quite frankly intimidating.

It was a great meet for all the Athletes…. Elaine and Briana now know where they are,it’s back to training and they will be back on top again.Wishing Akeem a speedy recovery and I’m hoping His injury is not serious 🙏.
