Ronnie Baker won the men’s 60m at Wednesday’s (19 Feb) Lievin’s meeting, World Indoor Tour event, in France.
American Baker topped the event in 6.44secs, second-fastest time in the world this year behind compatriot Christian Coleman, 6.37.
Fellow American Demek Kemp was second in 6.50 while European indoor champion Jan Volko from Slovakia equalled his national record of 6.57 for third.
Jamaican Nesta Carter, 6.63 improved from his 6.66 in the heats, for 6th in the final.
Julian Forte of Jamaica, 6.71 and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keston Bledman, 6.80, didn’t make the final.
World leads in men’s 1500m and 3000m.
Ethiopia’s Samuel Tefera won the 1500m over one second in 3:35.54 WL. Spain’s Jesus Gomez came through to take second in 3:36.68 PB.
In the 3000m, Steeplechaser Getnet Wale held off Ethiopian teammate Selemon Barega, a world-leading 7:32.80 to 7:33.19.
World 200m finalist Gina Bass smashed her Gambian record with 7.11 to beat world indoor champion Murielle Ahoure, 7.12, in the women’s 60m dash.
Earlier in the heats, Bass ran 7.18 and Ahoure 7.19. Bahamian Tynia Gaither, 7.40, didn’t make the final.
World champion Nia Ali won the women’s 60m hurdles on the dip from fellow American Christina Manning. Both athletes got 7.92secs.
After winning over 1500m in Glasgow, Jemma Reekie stretched away on the last lap to win the 800m in 2:00.34 from world champion Halima Nakaayi from Uganda in 2:01.96.

I didn’t realize Nesta Carter was still running. Hopefully Forte will get in form by outdoor. Him & Blake are some Jamaica’s few hopes in the Men’s short sprints.
I think Nesta Carter still have it in him to make Jamaica’s team to the Olympic Games this year. We don’t have any young men running at any time. Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter will be in Tokyo, even its the relay team dem ago mek it.
