Due to the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak in China, several sporting events were forced to find new venues. At least one cancelled its 2020 staging.

However, World Athletics has not decided on its World Indoor Championships, set for March 13-15 in Nanjing. The world’s governing body for track and field said it’s in consultation with the World Health Organization and will make a decision soon.

Competitions in basketball, track and field and tennis have all found new host countries.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament has shifted from Foshan in China to Belgrade in Serbia.

In tennis, The Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Group also moved from Dongguan to Kazakhstani capital Nur-Sultan.

On the weekend, the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) cancelled their Indoor Championships. The 9th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships has initially set their dates for Feb 12-13 in Hangzhou, China.

The global outbreak of the virus originated from Wuhan in the Chinese mainland.
