FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 4/4 Texas Track and Field program opened the weekend in record-breaking fashion once again, as the Longhorns bested two school records at the Razorback Invitational on Friday.

Junior sprinter Micaiah Harris broke the men’s 200-meter dash record that he set last weekend, running a 20.49 to extend his 2020 world-leading mark. Joining Harris in the record book was the women’s distance medley relay team, which consisted of Alexandria Cruz, Serenity Douglas, Valery Tobias and Kathryn Gillespie. The Longhorn women ran the event in 11:04.31, shattering the previous UT record by more than six seconds. It is the second-straight week Gillespie has been part of a school-record after she set the UT benchmark in the women’s mile last Friday in Boston.

The Men’s DMR team made up of Brendan Hebert, Jonathan Jones, Crayton Carrozza and Sam Worley, completed the four-leg race in 9:36.16 – the No. 2 mark in the NCAA this season. The only mark to beat them was Oregon’s event-winning group on Friday, which set the collegiate record at 9:24.52.

Sophomore sprinter Julien Alfred continued her streak of impressive numbers, posting a lifetime-best 23.08 in the women’s 200-meter dash to close out the night. Alfred’s mark is the No. 3 time in the NCAA this season and makes her the seventh-fastest Longhorn in the event all-time. Behind her, sophomore sprinter Kennedy Simon dropped a personal-best time at 23.44 – the No. 7 time nationally this year.

In the women’s pole vault, sophomore Olivia Buntin posted a personal-best mark once again this season, clearing 4.07m/13-4.25 to improve her standing as the eighth-best performer in school history. She is also the eighth Longhorn to clear the four-meter mark.

Texas will close out its weekend in Fayetteville with a packed day of action on Saturday. The final day of the Razorback Invitational will air on SEC Network+ beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
