Wayde van Niekerk set for European outdoor return

Wayde van Niekerk’s coach Ans Botha has said the sprinter is likely to make his return to competition during the European outdoor campaign, informs the Independent Online.

“I don’t want to make any predictions, but at this stage, we are positive that he will be able to get his first few races when the European season begins,” she said.

Also, French triple jump star and former World champion Teddy Tamgho set his goal for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

After a long period marred by injuries, the Cuban Ivan Pedroso-coached athlete, hopes for a return to top shape.

Kevin Menaldo has announced his retirement from pole vaulting at the age of 26, informs L’Equipe. Menaldo won bronze at the 2014 European Championships and cleared 5.88m during the 2018 indoor season.

“It’s a shame because he still had good things to do. But it’s better to stop at age 26 than drag yourself to 35,” said his coach Philippe d’Encausse.
