For the sixth consecutive year, the MVP Track & Field Club will be conducting Island-wide Grassroots Athletic Training Camps.
The Club has invited secondary schools to nominate student-athletes in the age range 12 to 18 years old to attend one of three Advanced Level Training Camps to be held in each County across Jamaica during the month of November.
MVP President, Bruce James, advised that “over 100 schools, from all 14 Parishes in Jamaica have been invited and the response has been overwhelming.”
MVP Head Coach, Paul Francis, remarked, “Bringing MVP’s World Class Training methods to all three counties in Jamaica is our way of empowering Jamaican athletes and coaches to learn even more about this amazing sport of track and field.”
This Saturday, October 27th the Cornwall Advanced Level Training Camp will take place at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, Catherine Hall, St. James. This will be followed by the Middlesex Advanced Level Training Camp to be hosted at the GC Foster College on Saturday, November 10th. The third of the Advanced Level Training Camps slated for Surrey will be held inside the National Stadium, Kingston on Friday, November 23rd.
A cadre of some of the most outstanding Jamaican coaches led by MVP Head Coach Paul Francis, all with international experience, will guide the over 120 student-athletes per training camp through the six track and field disciplines of Hurdling, Sprinting, Throwing, Jumping, Distance Running and Relays. MVP Track & Field Club athletes quite often visit the training camps to interact with the aspiring student-athletes.
The student-athletes enjoyment of this amazing training experience is further enhanced as one of the World’s fastest sports apparel companies PUMA will provide gear, Powerade and WATA will ensure that the student-athletes are well hydrated, NCB and the NCB Foundation share financial solutions for higher education and Reggae Jammin serves up nutritional support at each of the training camps. Digicel is the telecommunications partner for these Camps.
The all-day training camps start at 8:30 am and are on a strictly by invitation basis.
