KINGSTON — Jhevaughn Matherson, Michael Stephens and Michael Bentley all advanced to the semi-finals of the boys U20 100m at the Jamaica National Championships on Thursday night.
Leading the way was UTECH sprinter Bentley, who clocked a personal best of 10.34 seconds to win Heat 3 and qualified fastest from the round.
Tyreke Wilson of Calabar went across the line behind Bentley in 10.38 seconds and those two easily booked their places into the semis.
Stephens and Matherson went across the finishing line close together in Heat 2, with the Calabar sprinter getting the nod ahead of the Kingston College man, despite both athletes being credited a time of 10.49.
Romell Glave won the fourth heat in 10.46 secs, pulling away from the field to win comfortably.
Elsewhere, Andre Edwards of South Pains College, earned a place into the semi-finals, winning Heat 1 in 10.52 over Xavier Nairne of Wolmers (10.55).
The semi-finals and final of the boys U20 100m will take place on Friday.
