Shantae Foreman of Excelsior was in record breaking form on Thursday’s (22 March) third day of Champs 2018.

Foreman, who set the previous record of 1.79m in 2017, will now leave the Class 3 high jump record at 1.80m. She made three unsuccessful attempts at 1.82m, the World Junior Championships qualifying mark.

The 15-year-old said she “really wanted to clear 1.82” but promised “I believe I will do it at Carifta.”

Annishka McDonald of Vere was the silver medal winner with 1.71m while Daniel Hinds, Foreman’s teammate, picked up bronze with 1.65m.

Foreman’s victory put Excelsior into the lead with 21 points. Rusea’s, the leader of day 2, now dropped to second with 16 points.
Vere, 14, St. Jago, nine, and Immaculate, nine, rounded off the top five teams.

In the Class 1 boys’ discus final, Roje Stona of St. Jago came out on top with 63.07m. Kai Chang of Calabar took the silver medal with 61.79m while bronze went to Petersfield High’s 57.65.

At the end of three finals, Calabar stretched their lead to 32 points, 14 more than Kingston College (KC), 20, and St. Jago, 18.
