PUMA’s mission is to be the fastest sports brand in the world, that’s the reason why today they announce their partnership with MVP Track & Field Club, a top Jamaican athletics club whose roster includes several highly talented, elite Jamaican athletes.
PUMA is constantly creating partnerships with athletes, clubs and federations from the fastest countries around the world. There is no other nation that embodies speed better than Jamaica, which helps communicate and reiterate PUMA’s core statement as a performance brand. There is a long history of the brand’s involvement in Jamaica, including everything from grassroots events to sponsoring many of the main Jamaican high schools, Jamaican Athletics Federation, and Jamaica Olympic Association.
Founded in 1999, MVP Track & Field Club is the most successful track & field club in Jamaica.
The Track Club was established to provide Jamaican athletes the opportunity at track & field training, and serve as an option for those coming out of Jamaican high schools, giving the athletes the opportunity to continue developing their skills. PUMA sponsored athlete Asafa Powell spent most of his career training at MVP, and became one of its early major internationally acclaimed stars.
MVP is now one of the leading training groups of sprinters globally, with roughly one hundred athletes as part of the club. Over twenty of these are world-class athletes competing in international track & field meets, and major Championships around the world. Impressively, MVP accounted for a total of eleven athletes who were selected to represent Jamaica at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Since its inception, MVP athletes have won over 80 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in major international Championships. We look forward to this new partnership led by Head Coach Paul Francis and the exciting opportunities athletes will continue to have as they pursue their athletic goals.
