Paulette Simpson, Director of The Voice in the UK , said that the event was one of the activities planned in celebration of the newspaper’s 35th anniversary.

“This charity event is being held ahead of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in August,” Miss Simpson stated, “where Usain Bolt will be participating in his final international competition. This dinner, therefore, presents The Voice and The Jamaica National Group with the opportunity to recognise the achievements of Coach Glen Mills and Usain Bolt and to honour their contribution to the international success of Jamaican athletes.”
