ZURICH – Asafa Powell was saddened by the news the Rieti meeting was cancelled due to the earthquake but hopes to return there next year.
“I am very sad for Rieti, a meet that I feel very close to and where I beat a world record. This year they will not be able to make it because of the earthquake that hit the region, but I´m sure it will start over next year and I want to be there,” he said.
At the Zurich Diamond League on September 1, Powell clocked his 97th auto-timed sub 10 in the 100m.
