The IAAF World U20 Championships Bydgoszcz 2016, formerly the World Junior Championships, get under way on Tuesday and according to the organisers, this edition will be one of the biggest-ever.

This year’s staging will take place from July 19-24, and the IAAF website reports that the host is on course to welcome one of the biggest groups of athletes in the history of the championships.
A total of 1,518 athletes, including 832 men and 686 women – have been entered to compete at IAAF World U20 Championships Bydgoszcz 2016, which is the second-biggest of this age group thus far.
