Jackson, Simmonds, Williams win in Italy

LIGNANO, Italy – Three Jamaicans secured victories at Wednesday’s (13 July) 27th Meeting internazionale di atletica leggera Sport Solidarietà.

Shericka Jackson of Jamaica clocked 51.82 to win the women’s 400m while Renny Quow of Trinidad and Tobago, 45.54 topped the men’s equivalent.

Megan Simmonds, also of Jamaica, won the women’s 100m hurdles 13.14 (-2.2m/s wind).

Christania Williams was the third Jamaican winner. She topped the women’s 100m in 11.30 (-0.4m/s wind) over American Jeneba Tarmoh, 11.44.

USA’s Kendra Chambers won the women’s 800m in 2:00.76, a personal best, over Simoya Campbell of Jamaica 2:01.12.

In men’s 100m, Ronnie Baker 10.33 (-0.9m/s) and Kenyan Matthew Kiptanui won the 3000m in 7:51.47.

Mario Lambrughi won the 400m hurdles in 49.35 PB.

Jacob Rozani of South Africa attacked his PB with 1:45.42 800m win over Antoine Gakeme of Burundi 1:45.59 in the men’s 800m.
