MONACO – World cross country champions Geoffrey Kamworor and Agnes Tirop, both of Kenya, are the multi-terrain candidates in the longlist for the 2015 IAAF World Athlete of the Year award.
Kamworor joins Matej Toth, Ashton Eaton, Julius Yego, Christian Taylor, Usain Bolt, Mo Farah, Eliud Kipchoge and Sergey Shubenkov among the male candidates for the award.
Tirop is up against Liu Hong, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Anita Wlodarczyk, Caterine Ibarguen, Zuzana Hejnova, Mare Dibaba, Genzebe Dibaba and Dafne Schippers for the female award.
A panel of experts will now decide on a shortlist of three men and three women. The Council of the International Athletics Foundation (IAF) will then select the male and female World Athletes of the Year.
