Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the 100 metres here at the World Championships on Monday.
Fraser-Pryce got her usual quick start and powered away from the field as Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands closed quickly but Fraser-Pryce had enough to win.
Fraser Pryce won in a time of 10.76 seconds with Schippers doing 10.81 while Tori Bowi of United States was third in 10.86.
Veronica-Campbell was passed for third by Bowie in the final five metres as she finished in 10.91. The Trinidad and Tobago pair of Michelle-Lee Ahye and Kelly-Ann Baptiste finished fifth and sixth in 10.98 and 11.01 respectively.
Jamaica’s Natasha Morrison was seventh in 11.02.
Jamaica have won three medals at the Championships so far, with two gold and one bronze.
