BEIJING, China – Usain Bolt, despite not 100 per cent fit, said he never doubted his ability to win his fourth 200m world title here at the XV IAAF World Championships on Thursday night.
Gatlin, who promised an upset going into the final, was second in 19.74.
"I told you guys I will do it. There was no doubt," said Bolt.
“When it comes to 200m, I am a different person,” said Bolt after his world leading 200m 19.55 seconds time on Thursday.
“I was only beaten there once,” he said. He was beaten by Tyson Gay at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan in 2007.
“For me it’s a great present, to me and to the country,” he added.
Bolt said he went in to win the final and not thinking about any time.
"I knew I was not in for a world record," he continued.
