World sprint double champion Usain Bolt will skip Jamaica’s pre-World Championships camp in Tottori, Japan.
According to Jamaica’s team manager Ludlow Watts, Bolt is only one who is not in camp.
“He was undergoing some amount of examination while he was preparing at the same time," Watts was quoted by Reuters.
Watts said the decision was made at the last moment for Bolt to fly straight to Beijing for the World Championships set for August 22-30.
"It was considered necessary that he should perhaps go to the venue of the competition directly, rather than coming here,” added Watts.
Bolt, the 100m and 200m records holder at 9.58 and 19.19, is expected to arrive in Beijing early next week.
