If you were expecting fast 100m times at the Bahamas Trials, sorry, that wasn’t the case.

The times weren’t fast like those in Jamaica where four men went sub-10 and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran a world leading 10.79 in the women’s 100m final. The USA Trials had three men below the magical mark and six of eight women in the final recorded sub-11.

However, the Bahamian athletes should be proud of themselves, especially those who were crowned national champions.

Sheniqua Ferguson topped the women’s 100m in 11.41 ahead of Devynne Charlton 11.54 and Adanaca Brown 11.55.

The men’s 100m was won by Shavez Hart in 10.26 ahead of Teray Smith 10.33 and Warren Fraser 10.37.

Jeffery Gibson recorded arguably, the best result on the day, 49.83 seconds to take the men’s 400m hurdles title. Alie Beauvais was second in 50.97.

The women’s event was slow, 57.73 to the winner Katrina Seymour, the only one to break 60 seconds.

Bianca Stuart also was impressive with 6.83m to win the women’s long jump final. Next best to her was Charisma Taylor with 5.79m.

The men’s 400m without Chris Brown had its first round also on Friday. Steven Gardiner 45.37 and Michael Mathieu 45.42 are the only two to break 46 seconds.
