Russell wins 400m at GC Foster Classic

Janieve Russell of UTech won the women’s 400m dash at last Saturday’s (14 March) GC Foster Classic held inside the National Stadium.

Russell, who ran in heat 2, covered the track in 51.88 seconds.

Rosemarie Whyte-Robinson of Racers, the heat one winner, was second overall in 52.90.

UTech’s Simoya Campbell, who was second to Russell in heat 1, got third overall in 53.22.

Ronda Whyte of Sprintec finished fourth in 53.65 and Jonique Day of MVP, fifth in 54.20.

Sherone Simpson, also of Sprintec, was 8th overall in 54.66.

In the men’s event, Usain Bolt 46.36 won heat 1 while Javon Francis of Akan topped heat 2 in 46.49.

Edino Steele of Racers was 3rd overall in 46.80.

Julian Forte of UTech was 6th in 47.24
