Michael O’Hara won the Under-20 boys 100m final on Saturday’s first day of Jamaica’s Carifta Games Trials at the National Stadium (Video of Race).
O’Hara, who trailed the fast starting Raheem Chambers of St. Jago, crossed the line first in 10.45 seconds (-1.5m/s wind).
"It was a good performance from me; I had to come out here and stay focused and ensure that I pulled through fit and healthy," said O'Hara of the outcome.
Chamber, who led for 80 metres, finished second in 10.48 seconds.
"This was my first 100 metre for the season so I am pleased with the performance. The time was not fast, but I can't complain because the main objective was to come out injury free," Chamber said.
Nigel Ellis of St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) finished third in 10.57 and Devaughn Baker of Jamaica College (JC) fourth in 10.67.
St. Jago’s Chad Walker was fifth in 10.68.
