AMES – Jamaican Senoy-Jay Givans won a very close 60m final at the Big 12 Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb 28).
Givans, a former Munro College athlete, ran a personal best 6.59 seconds, to edged Ronnie Baker, who was credited with the same time 6.59.
Trayvon Bromell 6.60 finished third while fourth went to John Teeters 6.62, both clocked sub 6.60 in prelims.
In the 200m, Givans placed third in 20.86 behind World junior record holder Bromell, who topped the field in 20.71 ahead of Teeters 20.86.
Zack Bilderbach won the 400m in 46.31 at the oversized track here over Joseph Richards 46.49.
World leader at 400m Courtney Okolo was beaten to fourth 53.23, winner Kendall Baisden 51.90 ahead of Ashley Spencer 52.27 and Raena Rhone 52.75.
Okolo, however, dominated the 600 yards with seventh fastest time ever indoors at any track 1:18.24.
Morgan Snow won the sprint hurdles in 8.10 over Le´Tristan Pledger 8.11 and Barbados talent Akela Jones 8.14 PB.
