OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – Hurdlers Hansle Parchment and Nickiesha Wilson were winners at today’s (17 June) 53rd Golden Spike Meeting in Ostrava.
Parchment, who is celebrating his 24th birthday today, ran a fast 13.18 seconds (-0.8m/s wind) to take the men’s 110m hurdles. Compatriot Andrew Riley finished 4th in 13.39 seconds while Cubans Orlando Ortega 13.43 and Dayron Robles 13.79 were 5th and 7th respectively.
In the women’s one lap obstacle, Wilson ran 55.22 to beat a competitive field. Fellow Jamaican Ristananna Tracey finished second in 55.43 and Nigerian Adekoya Kemi third in 55.49.
American Justin Gatlin ran a world leading 9.86 to take the top spot in the men’s 100m. Fellow American Mike Rodgers was second in 10.08 and Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis third in 10.12.
LaShawn Merritt of US again dominated the men’s 400m to take victory in 44.16. Bahamian Demetrius Pinder was fourth in 45.30.
Allyson Felix won the women’s 200m in 22.75. Bianca Williams of Great Britain was second in 22.79.
