Usain Bolt has been left out of Jamaica’s team for the inaugural World Relays in Bahamas next weekend.
Bolt, who it is said will not be in race shape for the event, was not considered for selection. Bolt, the Olympic Games and World Championships sprint double champion, is also the world record holder in the 100m at 9.58 and 200m 19.19.
Bolt since 2008 has helped Jamaica to two Olympic Games and three World Championships 4x100m titles. Three of those were in world record times.
Meanwhile, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who won three gold medals at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia, and Yohan Blake, who finished second in both 100m and 200m at the London Olympic Games, will head Jamaica’s team.
Warren Weir, who won bronze in the London Olympic Games 200m final and silver in Moscow, is also included in the team, which has several new faces.
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association, in its release Wednesday night, did not state the events to be contested, but based on the athletes selected, the men’s 4x100m, 4x400m, 4x200m along with women’s 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m, are the events.
