Kemar Mowatt wins heat 1 of the men's 400m hurdles in 49.43 ahead of Ricardo Cunningham 49.54 and Andre Clarke 49.90 #JAMTrials

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – NEW ORLEANS – Returning from a junior campaign which saw him cap the year as World Championships 400-meter hurdles finalist, Arkansas senior Kemar Mowatt has been named to The Bowerman 2018 Preseason Watch List, announced Tuesday afternoon by the USTFCCCA.

Mowatt is joined on the prestigious list of 10 by  five Southeastern Conference rivals including Nathon Allen (Auburn), KeAndre Bates (Florida), Grant Holloway (Florida) and John Kyriazis (Texas A&M).

A native of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Mowatt transferred to Arkansas in 2015 from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and was a major contributor to the Hogs’ SEC and NCAA success in his first season. The five-time All-American made significant strides last season, racing to an SEC 400-meter hurdle title and an NCAA bronze medal in the same event. He holds the 400-meter hurdle program record with a personal best of 48.49 and is the only Razorback hurdler to ever clock a sub-49 second performance in the event.

Following his stellar 2017 collegiate season, Mowatt qualified to represent Jamaica at the IAAF World Championships in London as the national runner-up at the Jamaican National Championships. He wrapped up his second competition season as a Razorback, as the top collegian in the event and as the fourth-best 400-meter hurdler in the world.
