Garth Gayle: Hosting 2024 World Athletics Under-20 Championships a "massive undertaking" for Jamaica

Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) President, Christopher Samuda, who was appointed to the Ethics Commission of the governing sport body for the Americas, the Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO) in August of this year, announced recently that Garth Gayle, JOA’s Second Vice President, has been appointed by President of PASO, Neven Ilić Álvarez, to the body’s Coaching and Education Commission.

Gayle, a well known personality in the local and regional sport fraternities, is the Principal of Charlemont High School and has been in sport and education for over twenty years.

Gayle will attend his first meeting overseas later this month and will be joined by respected leaders of member national olympic committees of PASO. “I am looking forward to making a contribution and working with my colleagues in increasing the knowledge base and competences in sport. This is critical to sport’s integrity and value particularly as a tool for personal and national development” said Gayle who is also a member of the Technical Commission of the North America, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC).

JOA boss, Samuda, in welcoming the appointment said that “Second Vice President Gayle will bring to the table a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise in sport education, an unwavering commitment to his responsibilities and a practical vision that is not only regional but global”

PASO is responsible for the staging of the Pan American Games which is the region’s premier multi-sport games.
