World Athletics is looking for a host broadcasting partner for the World Athletics Series events that will take place between 2025 and 2029. The next five years will include three editions of the World Athletics Championships, a significant event with a global audience of about one billion people.

The partnership will commence on January 1, 2025, and will focus mainly on the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where the world-class athletics will return to the Olympic Stadium in 2020 with a full crowd after the pandemic-ridden Olympic Games.

The search process begins with the Request for Information (RFI) phase, where media companies will be evaluated based on their capacity, advanced technology, expertise, experience, and innovative mindset required to deliver a world-class production that satisfies a global slate of rights-holding broadcasters. The search will then proceed to the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase, followed by the decision phase, where the winning candidate will be selected before the end of 2023.

World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon notes that their current partnership with ITN since 2017 has been successful in improving the quality of their host broadcast production and delivering more value to their rights-holding broadcasters. As the sports broadcast industry continues to evolve rapidly, World Athletics is looking for a partner with a similar vision that can provide groundbreaking coverage of their major championships.

To express interest, potential partners should send an email to [email protected] by March 20, 2023. World Athletics will provide a unique login and password to access the portal where all necessary documents can be found to complete the bidding process. The Expression of Interest phase will continue until April 28, 2023. Successful candidates will be provided with a scope of work to respond to in early May, with final tenders due by June 9, 2023.

This initiative to find the ideal production partner for the future of World Athletics broadcast coverage will not only enhance the quality of the production but also provide an opportunity for the sport to grow and reach a broader audience, ensuring its commercial success.
