The Wanda Diamond League resumes on Saturday at the renewed Hayward Field Stadium, which will host the Prefontaine Classic. A number of enthralling fields are assembled.
Plenty of action on the track and in the field. World record holder Ryan Crouser will try to improve his global mark! Athletes will continue to vie for important points towards qualification for the finals in Zurich.

Men
100m – Eight of the nine entrants have broken the 10 second-barrier this year except for Mike Norman (9.86 PB) who makes his season’s debut at the distance. The line-up features world leader Trayvon Bromell (9.77), Olympic 200m champion Andre de Grasse (9.89), Olympic silver medallist Fred Kerley and veteran Justin Gatlin.
200m – Olympic silver and bronze medallists Kenny Bednarek and Noah Lyles lead the field with de Grasse focusing on the 100m. Interesting entry here hurdles hero Rai Benjamin.
800m – Kenya’s Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir and Olympic silver medallist Ferguson Rotich face some of the leading US contenders including Clayton Murphy, Bryce Hoppel and Isaiah Jewett. The meeting record of 1:43.63 could be vulnerable.
Mile – Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen goes head-to-head with world champion Timothy Cheruiyot in the Bowerman Mile. Olympic 5000m silver medallist Mo Ahmed from Canada also drops down in distance.
2-mile – Olympic 5000m champion Jacob Kiplimo takes on Olympic 10,000m champion Selemon Barega as well as Ugandan teammate Joshua Cheptegei, the world record-holder at 5000m and 10,000m. Could the world best of 7:58.61 set by Daniel Komen in 1997 be challenged?
Triple jump – Another head-to-head between Olympic champion Pedro Pablo Pichardo from Portugal and world indoor record-holder Hugues Fabrice Zango from Burkina Faso.
Shot put – All three medallists from the Olympic Games – Ryan Crouser, Joe Kovacs, Tom Walsh – are in an all-star line-up along with Brazil’s Darlan Romani who holds the meeting record at 22.61m.
Women
100m – The line-up features the Olympic podium from Tokyo – Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson – up against Sha’Carri Richardson who missed the Olympics due to a minor drug suspension. All nine entrants have broken the 11 second-barrier this year.
200m – Sha’Carri Richardson will be looking for a sprint double but faces the likes of Olympic bronze medallist Gabrielle Thomas from the United States along with world champion Dina Asher-Smith and the great Allyson Felix.
800m (non-DL) – The line-up features the top four from the Olympic Games: medallists Athing Mu, Keely Hodgkinson and Raevyn Rogers and fourth-placer Jemma Reekie.
1500m – The line-up features Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon and Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir. Six entrants have broken the four minute-barrier this year.
3000m steeplechase – The top five finishers from the Olympic Games feature in the line-up, including Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai from Uganda. World leader Norah Jeruto returns to action after missing the Tokyo Olympics
400m hurdles – Olympic silver medallist Dalilah Muhammad goes head-to-head with Shamier Little. The meeting record of 53.03 could be challenged.
High jump – Vashti Cunningham is the favourite with the three Olympic medallists absent.
Olympic heptathlon winner Nafi Thiam makes her debut at the Prefontaine Classic.
Pole vault – The line-up features the last two Olympic champions in Katie Nageotte and Ekaterini Stefanidi along with Olympic bronze medallist Holly Bradshaw.
