DOHA, Qatar – Maurice Wilson, head coach of Jamaica’s team to the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, said the athletes are in “great shape.”
“All athletes are in camp,” he said while adding “things are looking great.”
“We are very optimistic about our performances this year. Ware on the right path interns of to rebuilding the team to what it was a couple of years ago.”
He asked for patience.
Jamaica, for the first time since 2004, will start a global event without a medal favourite in the men’s 100m.
Yohan Blake, who won the world title in 2011, represents Jamaica’s best hope in the event.
Wilson also said Elaine Thompson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, based on what he has seen, “are in great shape.”
Fraser-Pryce and Thompson are gold medal favourites in both 100m and 200m.
