Erriyon Knighton, who ran 20.11 to break Usain Bolt’s World U18 record of 20.13 last month, was in sparkling form on Saturday (26 June) in the men’s 200m semi-finals at the US Olympic Trials.
The 17-year-old ran a blistering 19.88 seconds to erase Bolt’s 19.93 world U20 (junior) record.
He signalled his intention in the first round with a then-personal best of 20.04 to beat world champion Noah Lyles, 20.19.
