World 400m hurdles champion Karsten Warholm has increased his weekly training schedule.

Warholm, in a gv.co story, said he increased from 35 to 37.5 hours per week compared to last season.

The Norwegian has also added more rigorous weight training, including lifting 250kg.

He said his body is becoming more accustomed to the added training.

On missing out on the world athlete of the year award, he said: “There were two athletes among the candidates (Armand Duplantis and Joshua Cheptegei) who set a world record this year.

“So I was pretty sure I would not get it. If I had also set a world record, it would have been marginal. But not a ‘no brainer’.”
