The 14th UWI Invitational Track & Field Meet is set to sizzle at the UWI/Usain Bolt track at the Mona campus in Kingston on Saturday April 2.
 
The meet which normally features mostly Intercol student athletes and professionals will clash with this year's staging of Intercol Track and Field Meet which is scheduled for Friday April 1 and Saturday April 2 at the National Stadium.
 
This year's track and field calendar has been crazy for some meet organizers because Champs will be held in March and some event dates have been affected by the change.
 
Athletes from four Caribbean islands will compete at this year's UWI Invitational in addition to Jamaica's professional athletes.  The islands are Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago.  details of the 
 
Grace Jackson, chairman of the organizing committee said that plans are well underway for a meet that will appeal to the track loving fans as well as others and as such a number of innovative ideas are being looked at to help to create an interesting event.  
 
One of the changes this year is that the meet will start later and be shorter than in previous years.  It will start at midday with field events while the track events will follow the 1:00 pm opening ceremony.  At the moment the committee is planning a three-hour meet.
