Bahamian World Championships 400m silver medallist Steven Gardiner was in top form at Saturday’s (14 Sept) 10th Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów, Poland.

Gardiner’s time, 44.14s to win the men’s 400m, is the third-fastest time in the world this year. Only Americans Michael Norman, 43.45 and Fred Kerley, 43.64, have gone faster so far in 2019.

Yousif Rabah (GBR) 46.02 and Tyrell Richard (USA) 46.27 were second and third respectively at the meet.

Gardiner whose personal best is 43.87 is a firm favourite for a medal at the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships, set for 27 Sept to 6 Oct.

In the women’s event, American sprint queen Allyson Felix ran 51.47 to take the victory. Justyn Swiety-Ersetic 51.54 and Polina Miller (RUS) 52.41 collected the minor placings.

Isiah Young (USA) won the men’s 100m in 10.22 ahead of Seye Ogunlewe (NGR) 10.38. Ewa Swoboda (POL) 11.29 beat Quanesha Burks (USA) 11.52 in the female 100m.
