Injury Sidelines Jamaican Sprinter Serena Cole from Carifta Games 2023

Jamaica’s promising female sprinter Serena Cole will be absent from the Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas this weekend (April 8-10) due to a hamstring injury sustained during the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, Champs last week.

The U20 100m winner at the Carifa Games Trials in March, Cole confirmed the news on social media recently, saying, “No, I am not going to Carifta.” ALSO READ: Sprinting stars confirmed for Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica

Cole expressed disappointment during her Instagram Live and revealed that she would require physio treatment for the injury.”

“Right now, ice can’t help this here, if unu know weh a gwaan with it…ice can’t help this…me just have to go physio and get treatment,” she said.

Cole had been preparing to battle Hydel’s Alana Reid in the Class 1 girls’ 100m at Champs, with both athletes looking strong in the semi-finals.

Cole ran an effortless 11.17 seconds, while Reid also easily clocked 11.16 seconds in her semi-final.

  1. Sad. Their training routine in Jamaica is too rigorous. Some survive , others go by the way side. Jamaica can afford to do that because of its population. As one gone one born. Sad to hear though.
