DOHA (QAT): Dafne Schippers has said she had a “really good” training camp in preparation for the outdoor season.
“I think I’m ready. I had a really good training camp,” Netherlands’ two-time World 200m champion said.
“Now I’ve rested a little bit and we begin the competition,” she continued ahead of Friday’s Diamond league opener in Doha.
Jamaica’s Olympic sprint double champion Elaine Thompson will lead the Doha Diamond League women’s 100m field.
Schippers, along with World Indoor champion Murielle Ahoure, double world silver medallist Marie Josee Ta-Lou, and Blessing Okagbare, who recently ran a wind-aided 10.72, are the big names.
“It’s always difficult to see where you are time wise because it’s the first (competition) and you have no idea.
“Doha is really good because it’s warm, and that’s perfect for the sprinters. So it’ll be nice to see what I can do tomorrow,” said the Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist.
