Thousands turned out on Sunday to witness the final day of the RAMS Primary School Championship, which ended with one of the closest battles ever in the history of the annual contest.
After two days of fierce but friendly competition it was the Sandy Point Primary School that was crowned new champions, narrowly defeating Beach Allen in the last event of the evening.
Beach Allen was on the road to victory with less than five seconds remaining but their athlete stumbled and fell, giving way to the competitor from Sandy Point to clinch gold and the championship.
All Beach Allen needed to do was hold on to the lead, win gold and secure the title, but that was not to be.
The final medal count sees Sandy Point in First Position, Beach Allen, Second and Dr. William Connor Third, with the 2013 winner, St. Paul’s, in Fourth position.

Lamar Williams of the Newton Ground Primary was declared Victor Lodorum while Ketriana Huggins from the Sandy Point Primary won Victrix Lodorum.
The next major event to look forward to is the TDC Inter-School Championship, starting on Friday, 28th March, at 12noon, and resuming on Saturday with the final day on Sunday.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association has expressed great satisfaction with this year’s event. Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee and Vice President of the Association, Val Henry said that the association is extremely pleased with the huge crowd support on both days, but especially Sunday. He said the crowd size was much bigger this year compared to previous and recent years. The LOC Chairman also congratulated the winning school Sandy Point and runners-up Beach Allen and Dr. William Connor. He also had high praise for the other schools, such as Irish Town Primary and George Moody, who although did not win medals, performed creditably, said Henry.
The SKNAAA Vice President said that the continued support and sponsorship from RAMS Group of companies is truly what has made the event it has become. Thanks were also expressed to Delisle Walwyn, Department of Sport, Kantours and the St. Kitts Business Connections, which served as the association’s social media partners.
