Hydel looks good at Penn Relays...ready for East Coast Showcase

PHILADELPHIA – Hydel will start Friday’s (29 April) High School Girls’ 4×400 Championship of America Final as the favourite.

The Champs 2022 winner led the qualifiers with 3:39.34. Alliah Baker, Brianna Lyston, Kernica Hill and Oneika McAnnoff made up the team.

Holmwood Tech with Toriann Noad, Rickiann Russell, Rosalee Gallimore and Abriana Wright also qualified with 3:41.95.

Edwin Allen, Excelsior and St. Jago are the other Jamaican schools in the 4x400m final.

Excelsior High’s team of Diandra Kelly, Tkyla Bennett, Makela Coombs and Dejona Simpson booked their spot in 3:51.15.

St. Jago, thanks to the efforts of Quana Walker, Sahfia Hinds, Treshelle Simpson and Alesia Douglas, secured their final place ticket after crossing the line in 3:49.50 secs.

Edwin Allen got into the final with 3:45.29 after Amoya Jameison, Tonyan Beckford, Kacian Powell, and Natasha Fox took them across the line.

Hydel’s team of Roneisha McGregor (53.1), Shiann Salmon (52.7), Charokee Young (53.31), Abigail Brooks (54.88) set the Penn Relays record of 3:33.99 back in 2017.
