Edwin Allen High School is renowned for winning championships and producing champion athletes. Patrice Moody is a shining example of this statement.
The seven-year veteran of the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships (Champs), has demonstrated her versatility in several disciplines mainly the 400m, 100mh, 400mh, and sprint relays.

Champs 2016 proved a major turning point in her Champs career as she took on new challenges. Saddled with the crucial responsibility of leading her school’s challenge in the class 1 sprints, a reluctant Moody took up the offer.
She quickly adapted and scored morale boosting victories over seasoned campaigners Ashley Williams and Natalliah Whyte at development meetings and realised that sprinting came to her naturally as breathing.

In the 100m final for class 1 girls, Moody stormed to victory defeating a quality field while registering a personal best 11.49 seconds.

It was her most memorable track and field performance as, at that moment; she won her first individual medal.

Prior to that, she only won relay medals.

The opportunity to claim a fairy-tale sprint double evaporated when Moody, after looking irresistible in the 200m heats, was disqualified in the semi-finals after running in the inside lane on the curve. She admits that dreadful error was her most disappointing memory competing at Champs.

Fast forward to 2017, Moody is a much more determined and experienced sprinter ready to make amends. The occasion also marks her final appearance. Although expressing anxiety, Moody is expecting an exciting atmosphere and is savouring the moment to go out on a high.

Moody is an individual who thrives off words of encouragement and once she is motivated there’s no limit to what she can do. She is fully satisfied with her progress this season and is extremely confident of registering personal bests in both the 100m and 200m at Champs. She hopes to become the first class 1 sprint double champion for Edwin Allen High School at the ISSA GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships since 2008.
