The North Central Noranda Bauxite Development Meet takes place on Saturday, January 19 at the Port Rhoades Sports Club, Noranda Bauxite, in Discovery Bay.

The annual event, which was cancelled last year because of bad weather, takes its place amongst several other officially recognized JAAA Meets timed for the first part of the year as a testing and preparation ground for the full athletics season.

Meet Director Duen Daley says all is set for an exciting day at Noranda with teams expected from some 30 schools and clubs, including Prep, Primary, High Schools and colleges.

Teams are being encouraged to enter the 200m as a primary focus, in addition to the 100m, 400m, 1500m, 3,000m and 5,000m. Discus and Shot Put qualifying throws are also on the cards.

The Meet starts at 9 am and the experienced Director Daley will be joined by meet officials Major Jeffrey Brown, Errol Basco, Edwin Murray and Delton Walker, and organiser Kent Skyers.

The largest contingents are expected from Wolmers, Mannings, Holy Childhood, Muschette, Bellfield, and Munro College.
