HEFEI (CHN, Nov 11): Kenya’s Magdalene Masai made a winning marathon debut in the Hefei Marathon, winning in a course record of 2:28:20 ahead of teammate Rachael Mutgaa (2:28:37) and Ethiopia’s Aberash Fayesa (2:20:03). Leonard Langat won the men’s race in 2:10:48 ahead of Kenyan compatriot Hillary Kipkoech Bett (2:11:38) and Ethiopia’s Lencho Tesfaye (2:11:38).
ATHENS (GRE, Nov 11): In hot conditions, Kenya’s Brimin Misoi won the Athens Marathon in 2:10:56 from Ethiopians Workneh Tiruneh (2:12:52) and Mengist Azmeraw Gereme (2:13:20). Shelmith Muriuki (2:36:46) and Rebby Koech (2:38:54) took a one-two for Kenya in the women’s race.
RAVENNA (ITA, Nov 11): Wilfred Murgor (2:12:36) and Silah Limo (2:13:05) took a Kenyan one-two in the Ravenna Marathon. Alessio Terrasi was the top Italian in fourth in 2:19:14, also the national champion. Ethiopia’s Abera Mulisa won the women’s race in 2:36:32 by nearly twelve minutes from Croatia’s Nikolina Stepan in 2:48:07. Italian champion Eleonora Gardelli 2:59:19 as fourth overall.
GUADALAJARA (MEX, Nov 11): Wins for Kenya’s Silas Cheboit (2:18:42) and Ethiopia’s Zewdnesh Ayele (2:41:48) in the Guadalajara Marathon.
TANGIERS (MAR, Nov 11): Wins for Kenya’s Stephen Mwendwa (62:55) and Ethiopia’s Tejinesh Tulu (74:37) in the Tangiers Half Marathon.
AGADIR (MOR, Nov 11): There were fast times in the Agadir 10km with Vincent Kibet Yegon (28:11) and Elvis Kipchoge Chebi (28:14) taking a one-two for Kenya in the men’s race and Ethiopia’s Silenate Yismaw winning the women’s race in 31:42 from Rkia El Moukim (32:19). From Carole Fuchs.
SAN SEBASTIAN (ESP, Nov 11): Wins for Jaume Leiva (60:21) and Aroa Merino (69:42) in the San Sebastian 20K.
CREMA (ITA, Nov 11): Wins for Ethiopia’s Dereje Tola (64:30) and Rwanda’s Clementine Mukandanga (71:57) in the Crema Half Marathon.
LESHAN (CHN, Nov 11): An Ethiopian double for Gebreyohannes Adeladlew Mamo (67:45) and Melkame Wale Tesfahun (77:26) in the Leshan Half Marathon. From Carole Fuchs.
KANENGURIA (KEN, Nov 10): Michael Kibet (30:07) and Nancy Jelagat (35:50) won the 15th edition of the Tegla Loroupe Peace Race.
BUENOS AIRES (ARG, Nov 10): In the 9th road mile wins for Vicente Loza of Ecuador 4:13 and home steeple specialist Belen Cassetta in 4:57.
FUKUSHIMA (JPN, Nov 11): At the 34th East Japan Women’s Ekiden at 9 stages Tokyo won in 2:18:44 ahead of Nagano 2:19:07 and Shizuoka 2:19:26. World 5th placer from 2013 Moscow Hitomi Niiya clocked at last 9th stage course record in the 10 km section with fast 31:08.
TAMESNA (MAR, Nov 11): Good times at Tamesna half-marathon in Morocco. Kiprono Kipkemoi won men in 61:44 ahead of Abdenasir Fathi 61:53 and Othmane El Goumri 62:37. Women winner Tsige Hailes from Ethiopia clocked 70:40.
