STARKVILLE, Miss. – Two weeks since bringing home two trophies from the New Balance Invitational, the Mississippi State track andfield teams will divide action for the weekend at the Spire Invitational and Samford Invitational.

The No. 19 women’s track and field team brought home first place at the New Balance Invitational after scoring 84 points. The men’s team placed fourth with 46 points.

“Last meet was very successful for both teams, but this is a new week and a new meet,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “I want all our athletes to compete in both meets as hard as they did in New York. They have worked hard to get where they are,and I hope to see them continue to develop as a team.” 

Part of the team is heading to Geneva, Ohio, for the Spire Invitational, while the rest return to Birmingham for the Samford Invitational.

The Spire Invite will kick off on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT, with Ocian Archer in the 600-meterrun.

Competing for MSU in the 200-meter dash on Friday will be Shayla Luckett, Rodrigo Rocha, Charles Taylor and Juston Waters. Concluding day one of the Spire Invitational will be senior Damian Roszko in the 5000-meter run.

Action will resume in Ohio on Saturday morning with the field events. Rochelle Farquharson and Willie Reed will represent MSU in the long jump.

In Birmingham, MSU will have 21 athletes representing both teams over the weekend.  

The Samford Invitational will begin Friday at 7:00 p.m. for the Bulldogs with Abigail Dill, Seth Peace, Chance Stephens and Jaquarius Wilson competing in the high jumpwhile Euricka Hardy, Kimari Martin, James Anderson and Marshall Nunn compete in the 200m run.

Day two of the Samford Invitational will begin on the track with Wilson, Justin Pizarro and Wesley White in the 60-meter hurdles at 9 a.m., Saturday. Starting Saturday’s field events will be Wilson in the long jump at 9 a.m.
