Holmwood Tech's Chrissani May was the only girl to break 2:10 at Saturday’s Carifta Games Trials at the National Stadium in Kingston.
In the Under-18 girls' 800m final, May ran 2:09.92 to beat Britnie Dixon of Vere 2:11.03.
In the Under-18 boys 800m final, Leon Clarke of St. Jago took top honours in 1:54.77. Shamar Beacon of Edwin Allen was second in 1:56.55 and Danvere Robinson of Holmwood, third in 1:56.55.
Devaughn Smith and Sasha-Gaye Whyte were the Under-20 800m winners.
Smith of Spalding High topped the boys’ Under-20 final in 1:51.77. He easily beat Paul Tate of St. Elizabeth Technical 1:52.11 and Akeem Francis of Edwin Allen 1:52.56.
Whyte, who exchanged the lead with St. Elizabeth Technical’s Chantai Smith up to the 700-metre mark, pulled away to win easy in 2:11.38.
Smith held her form for second in 2:15.23 while Mellisa Tyme of Holmwood ended third in 2:17.16.
