JERUSALEM (ISR, Jul 5): Italian prospect Mattia Furlani highlighted the boys’ finals on day two of the third edition of the European U18 Championships in Israel.

First, he qualified for the finals in the high jump with 2.06m and then won the long jump with a huge 8.04m (+1.8) all-time U18 best by a European outdoors.

Dutch Niels Laros, who was already is the fastest in the 1500m heats, won the 3000m in 8:11.49 ahead of Norway’s Andreas Fjeld Halvorsen 8:13.48. 

Excellent meet record for Ukrainian Mykhailo Brudnik 64.51m (also PB) in the discus (his grandmother on his mother’s side is legendary discus thrower Faina Melnik).
