President of the Tobago Athletic Committee Garth Nichols says the meet is significant ahead of the 2017 season. “This meet is a build up the Carifta Games (set for Curacao from April 15-17) and also the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Age-Group Championships o be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago (in June 17-18).”

Nichols is urging the public to come on Sunday and support the event. “We are asking the general public to come out. You don’t have to be attached to a (track and field) club. You can compete unattached and then join a club after.”
