Leo McEwan was returned as President of the Jamaica Masters Athletics Association following the Association’s Annual General Meeting held at the Offices of the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing on Thursday, May 1.
He was returned unopposed and will serve a two-year term.
Other officers elected were Leo Gayle – Vice President; Dr Maynard McIntosh – General Secretary; Carmen Headley – Treasurer. They will be joined by Cleston Morgan, Anphia Morgan, Winston Laidlaw and Samuel Brevett to constitute the Executive.

Speaking following his re-election, a reflective McEwan thanked the Association for the confidence they placed in him. He said that despite the challenges associated with running the organisation, he was confident that there was a place for it and would be working along with his Executive in making the Association even more visible.
He said that the organisation was all-inclusive and welcomed even persons who were below 35 as they too had a part to play, citing the fact that a healthy and holistic lifestyle is the Association’s overall objective.
Turning to some of the plans on the horizon, McEwan explained that the inaugural National Masters Championships scheduled for August will take centre stage. In this respect, he is calling on Corporate Jamaica to support the event.
He says that there will also be a thrust to expand the geographical boundaries of the Association beyond Kingston and its environs as he feels that there are many persons all over the island who can benefit from being apart. He is also looking forward to the World Masters Championships slated for Lyon, France next year.
