Jamaican Kaydian Jones has been named the East Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, as voted on by the conference's coaches.

Jones, formerly of Camperdown and St. Andrew High for Girls, is now a winner of multiple ECC major awards after repeating as the ECC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year. A two-time ECC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, Jones ranked in the top-seven in the East Region in five different events during the outdoor season. Jones' best 100 meter dash (12.24) and 200 meter dash (24.80) times, were also the best posted by an ECC student-athlete this season.

"It feels great," she first said while adding "to finally be the bride and not the bridesmaid, because I received the runner up position in the past and co- athlete of the year or co-MVP)."

"The award is a humbling one for me because this is the only the beginning for Kaydian Jones. I am very grateful and content. The work really has just begun," said Jones, who will graduate next weekend.

Jones is also a co-recipient of the Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the ECC Championship Meet, sharing the honor with Molloy's Stephanie Meyer (Seaford, N.Y.). Jones helped the Firebirds win the championship by contributing 48 of their 158 total points.

She contributed 28 points individually by winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with her aforementioned best times and also finishing second in the long jump (5.31 meters). Jones was a key member of both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relay teams that crossed the finish line first, as well.
