In a video message, the Athens 2004 Olympic Games 100-meter champion said they were excited and eager to travel to Jamaica for his boys to get good competition. “This message is to all the young athletes, participants and spectators,” the five-time Olympic medallist said.
“On May 14, at the Prep School developmental meet, at the national stadium, hosted by Antick Management Sports, and my friend Ricky Martin, it comes to me to tell you that with (a) heavy heart, I won’t be able to travel there due to issues and our production.”
“We will be able to reschedule, reconvene with Mr Martin on the next opportunity we will have …. We were excited. We were eager to travel and not only that but to be able to compete in one of the best countries track and field have known,” said Justin Gatlin.
Justin Gatlin is working with five boys, dubbed the fastest kids in America, in a camp named “Team Pressure.”
However, in another video message to the organizers, Jiwe Morris, founder of Team Pressure, explained: “We have sorted out our travel arrangements for May 12 to fly into Jamaica to compete in the Anthrick Sports Management meet, May 14. However, Justin Gatlin will not be travelling with us, so no worries, Team Pressure is still on the way.”
Team Pressure is a USA Youth 4×1 Relay group of 11-year old boys from across the country. Team members: Dashaun “Honeybadger” Morris II (Grayson, GA), Rudolph “Blaze” Ingram (Tampa, FL), Kareen “2K” Knox II (Las Vegas, NV), Rudyard (RJ) “Jizzle” West Jr. (West Monroe, LA), and Kaden “Big O” Coleman-Bennett (Washington, DC).
