Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman
American World indoor record holder Christian Coleman and compatriot Justin Gatlin, the world 100m champion, will clash at the 44th Prefontaine Classic, the third stop in the IAAF Diamond League series.
Gatlin recorded the most Prefontaine Classic wins, five and also the highest number of Diamond League Trophies, in this event.
Coleman, who is also the World 100m silver medallist, will also go up against fellow Americans Ronnie Baker and Isiah Young. Also from the sub-10 department are Briton CJ Ujah and Ben Meite of Ivory Coast.
Top two, Briton Reece Prescod and Chinese Su Bingtian, from last weekend’s Shanghai Diamond League, are also down to face the starter.

Caster Semenya is confirmed for the Paris Diamond League

Meanwhile, over in Paris, World champions Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Caster Semenya are confirmed for the Paris Diamond League on 30 June, informed organisers.
Other world champions already confirmed for the Paris Diamond League are Mariya Lasitskene (high jump), Nafissatou Thiam (heptathlon) and Kevin Mayer (decathlon) and Coleman.
Elsewhere, 75% of tickets are sold for the IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava in September, according to LOC head and Czech Athletics Federation president Libor Varhanik.
The event will be held over two days, September 8-9. Something special will be the role of team Captains, for example, Colin Jackson for Europe or Mike Powell for team Americas.
In the promotion of the event kids are competing in a special feature “Ostrava supports the continents”. The biggest global event of the 2018 summer season should attract many stars of the sport to compete in the Czech Republic.
Europe and Africa teams will be selected based on the continental championships, teams of America and Asia/Pacific by the results of the 2018 season.
In other news, Valerie Adams will serve as the official starter for IAAF Run 24:1, a series of 24 one-mile runs that will be contested around the world to celebrate Global Running Day on 6 June.
The IAAF Run 24:1 initiative, which will be held in two dozen cities across 15 time zones, will commence in Auckland, New Zealand, where Adams, the two-time Olympic and four-time world champion in the shot put, has been named City Captain for the event.
