CARDIFF – Violah Jepchumba maintained her unbeaten run with a gun-to-tape victory in the Cardiff Half Marathon in a course record of 68:14 on October 2, 2016.
Jepchumba was on world record pace through 5km in 15:30 but was unable to keep this pace going through 10km in 31:30, 15km in 48:02 and 20km in 64:50.
Filomena Cheyech (70:05) and Lenah Jerotich (71:23) were second and third for a Kenyan clean sweep. There was also a Kenyan clean sweep in the men’s race with Shadrack Korir winning his first international race in a course record of 60:54 ahead of Paris Marathon winner Cyprian Kotut (61:04) and Charles Mneria (61:36).
Top Brits: Dewi Griffiths (63:26) in eighth and Rachel Felton in fifth (74:03).
