Kirani James, Grenada’s 2012 Olympic 400m champion, will continue his comeback at the Ostrava Golden Spike. The meet is a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold ent, set for 19 May.

USA’s World 400m bronze medallist Fred Kerley is also set to compete at the meet. Kerley has focused on the 100m and 200m this season. He ran six 100m races with his best time, a personal best 9.91 in Miami. Kerley also ran a personal best 20.24 in the 200m. His best 400m race in 2021 is 45.03 done during the indoor campaign.

He will run the 100m/200m double in Ostrava.

In the 200m, Kerley will face fellow American Kenny Bednarek, who just ran 19.94 at the USATF Golden Games.

Ethiopia’s world record-holder Genzebe Dibaba is yet to race outdoors this season and will be targeting the 1500m meeting record of 3:59.05 set last year by Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon when she takes to the Mestsky Stadion track.

Britain’s world U20 indoor record-holder Keely Hodgkinson will race the 800m against sub-1:59 runners Lovisa Lindh, Hedda Hynne and Lore Hoffmann, while Bosnian world silver medalist Amel Tuka will contest the men’s event against Hodgkinson’s fellow British teenager Max Burgin plus Poland’s Adam Kszczot, Patryk Dobek and Mateusz Borkowski.

In the men’s 1500m, current world-leader Adam Ali Musaab from Qatar will face Poland’s Marcin Lewandowski and Czech trio Jakub Holusa, Filip Sasinek and Jan Fris.
