Jamaica had a mixed day at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, during the 50th Carifta Games on Sunday, April 9. The Caribbean powerhouse took home two gold medals but got disqualified from the other two sprint relays they competed in.

Who win the 4x100m relays at Carifta Games?

Jamaica’s U20 boys’ 4x100m team won gold with a fantastic final leg by DeAndre Daley, who crossed the finish line in 39.68 seconds. Bahamas took second place, clocking 39.78 seconds, while Trinidad and Tobago completed the podium in 40.83 seconds.

The Jamaican U20 girls’ 4x100m team secured another gold medal thanks to Alana Reid’s stunning performance on the backstretch. Jamaica finished in 44.01 seconds, ahead of Trinidad and Tobago, who crossed the line in 45.35 seconds, and the Bahamas in third place with a time of 45.55 seconds.

However, things didn’t go as planned for Jamaica’s U17 teams in the 4x100m relays. The boys’ team finished second, clocking 41.63 seconds behind the Bahamas, who won gold in 41.46 seconds. Grenada finished third with a time of 41.95 seconds. Unfortunately, the Jamaican team was disqualified later, and Grenada was promoted to the silver medal position.

The U17 girls’ team also crossed the finish line in first place, clocking 45.36 seconds, but they were later disqualified. Trinidad and Tobago moved up to the gold medal position with a time of 46.18 seconds, followed by the Bahamas in third place with a time of 46.43 seconds.

The Bahamas made history by winning the first-ever mixed 4x400m relay at the Carifta Games with a time of 3:24.62. Grenada finished second in 3:27.22, while Guyana claimed third place in 3:27.96. Unfortunately, Jamaica did not secure a medal in this event.
